Heriot’s Rugby Club
Heriot’s Rugby Club play in the BT Premiership and our rugby policy is to play exciting running rugby, while developing the best young players so that they have the opportunity to progress to the highest level of their potential in the game.
Rugby is the centre of our club, however the social side of the club is just as important with an opportunity to enjoy meeting old friends and make new ones. The rugby community is rightly the envy of all other sports, and we are pleased that we have many ways of fostering that through our hospitality in the clubhouse, both before and after the game.
We would be delighted to see you to Goldenacre and new playing and non-playing members are as always, most welcome.
Death of Ian Thomson
Funeral: Thursday 27th November
Heriot’s Rugby Club was saddened to learn of the death of former player and Scotland full-back Ian Thomson. He passed away on Saturday morning aged 84.
Ian Thomson was one of the great line of eight Heriot’s full-backs who went on to represent Scotland. It was a tradition carried on by such luminaries as British Lions Ken Scotland and Andy Irvine. Thomson made his international debut as an 11th hour call-up for a fellow Herioter, Tommy Gray, against Wales at Murrayfield in 1951.
Ian’s funeral will take place at Mortonhall at 11am on Thursday 27th November.
