600 Not Out
Saturday was all about the mighty twaes who travelled to Stirling knowing that victory would almost ensure the league title. Despite the terrible conditions the boys knuckled down, played in the right areas of the pitch, kept it simple and played the right game for the weather and toughed out a fantastic victory 23 – 0. An immense forwards display was rewarded with 3 tries from the pack.
Special thanks to Graham Wilson for his inspirational pre-match pep talk and to Dr Tran for helping out with the medical duties in light of Stirling’s doctor having to call off late in the day – many thanks.
The 2s travel to Dundee this week end and will be crowned champions if Ayr lose at Boroughmuir.
This Saturday sees Heriot’s participate in their 600th league encounter in the top tier of Scottish Club Rugby – a testament to the club both on and off the field. Unfortunately we are away to Currie at Malleny Park in the final fixture of the season for a game that has huge implications for both clubs – a Heriot’s win will see us in the B&I Cup for the first time since 2009/10 and leaves Currie in second bottom place with a tricky play off – probably against a fired up Hawick outfit. A win for Currie will see them climb the table and will probably drop us in to the mid table so it is all to play for this Saturday.
There is a lunch at Currie which is a very reasonable £15 and this includes entry to the game – its only a fiver to watch the game anyway, so if you can, please come along and support Heriot’s in this landmark game – still the ONLY club never to have been relegated – a proud record and one we intend to prolong for many seasons to come.
Congratulations to Fraser Brown, Max Learmonth, Jason Hill, Kevin Bryce, Cammy Ferguson and David Edge who were all involved with the Scottish Club International team that travelled to France – testament to how well Heriot’s have played this season.
Your support throughout the season has been massive and much appreciated. Many thanks.
