Review of Melrose game

Posted on
With only two games to go in the Tennents Premiership a win away at Melrose was a must for a Heriot’s team that is starting to come in to its own at the sharp end of the season.
To secure a bonus point was the icing on the cake and one more win against Boroughmuir or Hawick guarantees a top 4 finish and a play off position where anything can happen.
After the standard 15 minutes arm wrestling at the start, Heriot’s found a rhythm to the game and the game started to open up – the fact that the 4 tries were all scored by the backs was testament to the hard work put in by the forwards and a willingness to send the ball wide when the opportunities arose. An excellent all round performance from a full strength team.
Despite losing at the weekend the Blues require just one more win to secure the National Reserve 1 title so there is plenty to look forward to at Goldenacre this weekend.
Unless there is a significant change of policy at the SRU this is the last season of Scottish club rugby in its current format with the introduction of Super 6 on the ever looming horizon. Heriot’s are in contention on both Premiership and Cup fronts and at both reserve leagues so we would love to see as many supporters coming along to the last few games as we try to end the season on a high.
