Championships
Heriot’s won their first offical league championship in season 1978 – 1979 under the captaincy of current Scottish Rugby Union president Andy Irvine however the club had to wait another 20 years before they won it again. This time the team was captained by the “Peter Pan Like” prop forward John G Bryce aka Jocky and included a few players who would go on to become household names such as Simon Taylor and Gordon Ross. Jocky and his young charges won 14 matches that season to secure their league title which would be the first of two back to back league titles.
