Heriot’s v Ayr, A Fantastic Advert for Club Rugby!
We were blessed with unexpectedly good weather for the visit of Ayr at the week end in what turned out to be an exceptional game of rugby which ebbed and flowed until the final whistle – ultimately finishing in a narrow 16-22 Ayr victory. Heriot’s however, took a lot of the plaudits and even returned with the Man of the Match – Jason Hill – as decided by both team coaches.
This will have come as little comfort, however, to a team that threw everything at Ayr in the final 10 minutes but were unable to break down a strong Ayr defence. On a positive note the bonus point could ultimately prove vital in the push for a top 4 finish.
It should also be noted that although Ayr fielded two pro props –our own front row was at least the equal of their counterparts and this should bear fruits in the matches ahead starting with Dundee away next week.
With another fantastic turnout of 130 for lunch, Heriot’s Cricket Club were proud to display the Scottish Cup they won in the summer with victory over Watsonians and we were treated to a fine rendition of “Address to a Haggis” by Ian Galloway.
With the 23rd February only 4 weeks away ‘Fill the Stand Day’ is gathering pace and we will have posters and flyers to hand out shortly. As previously mentioned, block it off in your diaries as we need as many members to come along with as many guests as they can muster –it’s only a fiver to get in!!
As ever your support is invaluable
