We are delighted to announce the return of Finlay Gillies to Heriot’s Rugby Club as Super 6 forwards coach. He will join Ciaran Beattie’s Super 6 coaching team as they embark on their debut season in the new Super 6 domestic and cross border competitions. Finlay enjoyed a successful period as a player from 2007-2011, including a Scottish Cup win with Heriot’s Rugby Club, learning his hooking trade from club stalwart Stewart Mustard, before going on to play for Glasgow and Scotland Sevens.

Gillies said:
“I am hugely excited to come back to Heriot’s Rugby Club. I can’t wait to work with Ciaran, Phil and the rest of the team to help build on the recent successes at Goldenacre. The “Heriot’s Way” is something we will look to build on and continue to challenge for trophies.”

Given the tremendous success Phil Smith has brought to Goldenacre, we are proud to announce he will continue as head coach for our Club 1st XV, Heriot’s Blues. Jamie Parker will be continuing as forwards coach and OJ Brown steps up as backs coach following his title winning coaching performance with the Blues this season. The continuity and quality of coaching offered by a coaching team of Phil, Jamie and OJ enables us to continue building on the successful established platform of amateur rugby at Goldenacre.

We continue to put player welfare first and foremost at Goldenacre with the world class Sandi Lyall staying with the club as head physiotherapist, as always assisted by the Blues talisman Mandy Costello.

Our team managers of Neil ‘Eck’ Hinnigan and Gav ‘Enzo’ Cameron will be taking on the Super 6 management roles, with Michael Goldie and one other Goldie favourite taking on the Blues.

The Ferry Road Wanderers continue to go from strength to strength through our partnership with Stewart’s Melville, with a plethora of coaches and support staff all ensuring that even the most social of rugby players can get a game of rugby.

As further evidence of our growing partnership with Stewart’s Melville we are delighted that Alex Haggart has transitioned from his impressive stint as Heriot’s Academy coach to backs coach at Inverleith. Everyone at Heriot’s wishes him all the best in his new role.

All of us at Goldenacre are hugely excited about the upcoming season which will see players of all abilities donning the Blue & White. We are excited, you should be too!
