A disappointing day at the office

Following their last minute loss in the Premiership final last season it came as no surprise to find that John Dalziel and his coaching staff had Melrose well fired up for this top of the table clash.

While Melrose deserve the plaudits for a key win what was somewhat disappointing was our lack of consistency throughout the game. Against Boroughmuir we made few handling errors and gave away a handful of penalties, against Melrose there were numerous handling errors and way to many penalties conceded. When we were able to string together a number of phases we looked fantastic, however this was interspersed with long periods where we seemed determined to try to win the game without the ball. In fact, we finished the game strongly despite disruptive personnel and positional changes. Plenty to work on at training this week.

The mighty 2s also succumbed to their border rivals – allowing them a three try start that they could not claw back.

Just to complete a bad day the 3s also lost out to Accies at Inverleith.

The good news is that we have the opportunity to reverse all results with games for the 1sts and 2nds against Gala and RHC for the 3rds this weekend. All kick offs at 14:00 and all at Goldenacre, so come along, support the boys and enjoy the World Cup semi final between South Africa and New Zealand on the big screen– I believe Craig Joubert is the TMO for this one. KO is at 16:00

Shona is on holidays this week, therefore if you want to book for the pre-match lunch (only £15 and includes entry to the game), contact Fiona Forrest on fionaforrest@hotmail.co.uk.

Finally a massive vote of support for Vern Cotter and the Scotland team – played a fantastic game of rugby and plenty to build on as we come to the 6 Nations.
