A solid performance on Saturday saw Heriot’s come away with a comfortable but narrow victory over Boroughmuir, leaking 2 late consolation tries which slightly skewed the superiority we had shown throughout the game.
There is no doubt we are still a work in progress with a couple of areas the coaches will be keen to tighten up and improve on, however all in all pretty satisfied with the strides the boys have taken since the start of the season and there is absolutely no doubting the application and desire to be around the top of the Premiership come the end of the season – the next three games against Ayr, Melrose and Currie will give us a more accurate idea of where we are in the standings.
Having come from behind last week the boys were keen to get off to a quality start this week and the first 20 minutes could not have gone better, scoring a couple of tries and dominating every facet of the game. As we know if you don t take your chances there is every possibility the opposition will seize their moment and that s exactly what happened as Boroughmuir came back at us and made us work extremely hard for the victory.
This sets us up nicely for the trip to Ayr on Saturday against another team who are building up a head of steam. Kick off 3.00pm
The 2s also hosted Boroughmuir and in a virtual mirror of the firsts game they also conceded two late tries and came through narrow victors. So all in all a good day at Goldenacre despite an extremely late call off by Currie who were due to play the 3s but were unable to raise a team.
This Saturday all teams are away – Ayr for the 1st and 2nd XVs and Haddington for the 3rd XV.
