With the weather set fair conditions were perfect for an open flowing game of rugby and that was exactly what Heriot’s produced at Goldenacre yesterday.
A Josh Laird hat trick capped an excellent day at the office as the boys ran in seven tries and took the next step forward in the defence of the Premiership title jumping up to fifth in the league. Struan Dewar picking up the Man of the Match award – sponsored by Thistle Properties.
As the ebb and flow of players continues with pro players being released, new players bedding in and injured players gaining fitness its making life interesting for Coach Smith and he will have an additional headache this week with the return of Russell Nimmo in the second row.
We travel to Meggetland on Saturday and test ourselves against Boroughmuir who will be smarting having come within the width of the post of beating Watsonians so we will need to be a the top of our game to come away with a win.
Its Ladies Day at Meggetland and there will be a fantastic lunch laid on so any ladies out there looking for a great day out should check out the Boroughmuir website.
Things are bubbling up nicely throughout the club and with the 2nd XV knocking 51 points past Hawick 2nd XV and the 3rd XV knocking 50 past Lasswade there was plenty to smile about in the clubhouse on Saturday night.
