Review of Melrose Game

Posted on
Backing up last week’s comfortable victory against Gala was always going to be a tough ask against a strong Melrose side who had been on a decent winning run and were hell bent on getting their name on the McLaren Shield this week.
Defences were generally strong with neither side able to find much space in the midfield and with limited chances it was left to a bit of inspiration from Harry Boisseau and a couple of rampaging breaks from George Turner that turned the tide in our favour ultimately gaining a well deserved victory.
This is a win which takes us up to fourth place in the BT Premiership, claiming the Bill McLaren Shield in the process but more importantly it will have given the boys a massive confidence boost as we head towards the midway point in the league and two crucial home games.
The 2s put up a strong display but were thwarted by a resolute Melrose side who maintained their unbeaten record and remain at the top of the league..
The 3s were also touched off by Haddington, however, the spirit remains strong in the camp and the boys are getting better week on week, it is just a matter of time before we string together a few wins.
This week sees us hosting a Stirling side who will have been buoyed by their last gasp win over Watsonians and like ourselves, keen to push forward.
The game kicks off at 15:00 so come along to Goldenacre and lend your support.
