Review of Semi Final (Cup)

Posted on

A thoroughly engrossing semi final which hung in the balance right up to the final whistle saw Heriot’s make it through to the Tennents Scottish Cup final on Saturday 27 April at BT Murrayfield. Further details will follow about tickets.

Hawick have a tendency to pull massive performances out of the bag against the Nails and Saturday was no exception, any thoughts of an easy ride after going two scores up in the first quarter were quickly snuffed out as the men in green threw everything into the game taking the lead entering half time.

The second half was a much tighter affair with few scoring opportunities, however a penalty and try gave us the lead and as Hawick went in search of the winning points a huge defensive effort was required before a fantastic turnover by Callum Marshall signalled the final whistle and a collective sigh of relief went round the Goldenacre faithful.

Now the dust has settled on the preliminary work there is now the matter of the first of our two finals; the Premiership final at Ayr on Saturday 6 April kick off at 15:00.

Ayr have proved to be the most consistent team in the Premiership this season and will have high expectations of lifting the trophy, however, I am sure Phil and Ciaran will have the boys prepped for a huge performance this weekend.

A large travelling support would be a massive boost to the players so get along to Millbrae if you can.

Supporters wishing to take advantage of the free buses going to Ayr should book on the website.  Why not book to also join us for a full cooked breakfast beforehand to set you up for the travel. Cost is £10.
