Tri Rugby Scotland V English Premier Select
“Unified” / Mixed Ability Game
Sunday 22 April
George Heriot’s School and Heriot’s RC are proud to be hosting the Scotland v England Premiership mixed ability match at Goldenacre.
Iain Milne, former pupil and ex Scotland and British and Irish Lion, is currently patron of Scotland Tri Rugby charity. Iain says, “tri rugby allows players with and without disabilities to play contact rugby and enjoy the club room atmosphere that rugby is so famous for. It means so much to the players to be involved in a sport like this and I hope that many Herioters, and rugby followers will come down to Goldenacre to witness this special game and support both teams.”
*A collection will take place at the gate with money being split between Tri Rugby and Doddie Weir MND.
The clubhouse will be open for refreshments before and after the game.
We hope you will join us and support this wonderful occasion.
Unified rugby is a version of the full contact game (a mix of touch and full contact) that brings together those with learning disabilities and non-disabled players in the same team, promoting equality, diversity and social inclusion through participation in the game.
Tri’s aim is to improve health and well-being by increasing physical activity and improving access to sports for people with learning disabilities. This is accomplished by working to overcome the barriers that prevent people from accessing and benefiting from quality coaching and sustainable personal development.
