Victory for Gala, but Success for 3rd XV and our Darts Champions
A frustrating afternoon at Goldencare culminated in a Heriot’s loss to Gala 34 19. Despite having long periods of possession throughout the game we just couldn’t find the killer blow and it was Gala, who in a 10 minute spell at the start of the second half, tore through the Heriot’s defence scoring 14 points which effectively won them the game. The net result of this and the other scores is that the league table has tightened up and gives the game against Stirling on Saturday extra significance. A large travelling support to Stirling would be much appreciated. Kick off 2.00pm.
With the 2nd XV game against Currie postponed due to a lack of front row on their part it was left up to the 3s to throw a ray of sunshine on Goldenacre which they duly did – scoring 3 tries in the last 10 minutes to see off a huge Edinburgh Accies outfit who despite averaging about 10 stone a man more than their Heriot’s counterparts decided they wanted to go uncontested in the scrum. Once again youth and fitness counted in our favour and the boys have extended the lead in their league to 3 points with a top of the table clash against Watsonians at Goldenacre this Saturday. Kick off 2.00pm. The 2nd XV play Dundee at Goldenacre – kick off 2.00pm.
The next event at Goldenacre is the Smoker/Cavaliers Evening on November 10th – £30/head. For more information and to book seats/tables see the Events Calendar and contact Iain Milne -firstname.lastname@example.org, or Liz Irons – email@example.com.
Despite the loss on Saturday the atmosphere at Goldenacre is fantastic with another excellent lunch this time with Andy Irvine contributing. One more piece of good news is that Heriot’s scooped the Darts trophy at the Corn Exchange with Captain Graham Boon scoring the only 180 of the entire evening in the final. Well done the Dartists.
