Heriot’s Blues 2nd XV Forwards Coach

Heriot’s Rugby Club have an opportunity for an ambitious coach to join their Blues coaching team. This role offers the opportunity to work as part of one of the most successful coaching teams in the club game with multiple league & cup titles, national age grade experience and club XV experience. The successful candidate would work alongside Blues 2nd XV coaches Robert McKillop and Michael Goldie and would coach the Blues 2nd XV forwards. The role would also provide the opportunity to learn directly from, and experience working alongside, our Blues 1st XV coaching team led by Phil Smith and our Super6 coaches Andrew Kelly & Finlay Gillies.

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Be in possession of, or be working towards, UKCC Level 2 or Equivalent with the desire to achieve Level 3 and beyond
  • Have recent or relevant playing experience (‘player coaches’ encouraged to apply)
  • Have an ability to communicate effectively and enthusiastically 
  • Help design and execute training which is effective and relevant to the squad’s development and overall goals
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate players
  • Have availability through the season for training Tuesday/Thursday and Saturday games

This role is not financially remunerated (although travel expenses may be available) and is designed to offer the right person the opportunity to develop in one of Scottish club rugby’s best coaching and playing environments. Heriot’s Rugby Super6 Team Manager

The Heriot’s Rugby Super6 squad is looking for a driven, organised, ambitious individual to join our Super6 management group as a Team Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
The Heriot’s Rugby Super6 Team Manager is responsible for ensuring all Heriot’s Rugby Super6 team operations and off field logistics are professionally prepared and delivered.
• Coordination of off pitch player needs and working with the Super6 coaching team to devise and deliver rugby itineraries for training and match days
• Involved in team selection and a leader in terms of the values and behaviours expected of the playing group
• Coordination of player appearances, sponsor interactions, social media coordination and junior section liaison
On match days the team managers role is vital to the teams’ success and responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with changing room set-up
  • Coordination of match day equipment
  • Pitch side coordination of substitutions/injury management

We are looking for an individual who is dedicated, organised and ambitious who fits in well with the Super6 coaching team and wider Heriot’s Rugby Club.

Operations Director – This is a full-time paid position with competitive salary.
We require an Operations Director to manage all aspects of the Club’s operations to support on field activities and commercial success. The role will ensure the optimal utilisation of all Club assets, including the rugby pavilion, to facilitate maximising the Club’s revenue within agreed cost parameters. The role is pivotal to the management of the Club and key to its ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial & Off Field
• A member of the Board of Directors who has responsibility for overseeing and managing the general operations of the organisation
• Line management responsibility for the Sponsorship & Sales Manager, the Administration Manager, the Media Manager and the Bar Manager, as well as managing the services of volunteers
• Hold the licence for the Bar
• Manage Bar Operations, assisted by Bar Manager
• Organise internal events, including pre-match lunches
• Manage all external Clubhouse hire events
• Manage catering arrangements
• Maintain Clubhouse fabric and manage contractors
• Liaise with School officials re Clubhouse matters
On Field
• Prepare player contracts in liaison with Head Coach
• Manage Stand facilities
• Organise match day management including hospitality and Health & Safety
• Maintain policies and procedures including data protection

Who we are Looking for:
Applicants must demonstrate:
• Degree or relevant experience in a comparable role
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple duties/tasks at any given time
• A flexible outlook and be willing to perform varying duties depending on the shifting needs of the organisation
• Experience in bar operations is essential with a track record of supporting and delivering successful events
• Excellent attention to detail and a real willingness to take personal responsibility for tasks
• Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
• Possess excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships with customers and colleagues
• Good IT knowledge
• Must have previous management experience
• Have knowledge of and be able to adhere to all all health and safety and company policy
• Experience of budgeting and budget allocation preferred

Sponsorship & Sales Manager – This is a full-time paid position with competitive salary

We require a Sponsorship and Sales Manager to devise a sponsorship strategy to maximise sponsorship revenues. The role involves ensuring that value is added to sponsor relationships with the Club and to widen the target market for the Club’s events, generating maximum sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Devise and set out a sponsorship strategy to achieve best results in a highly competitive market
  • Cultivate and convert a network of potential sponsors through regular liaison and relationship building
  • Ascertain the best possible fulfilment of sponsors expectations of the Club and ensure this takes place
  • Research and collate new potential purchasers for the Clubs events, both internal and external
  • Promote lunches and other events
  • Enhance 200 club membership and promote the same
  • Administer match day entertainment to attract crowd numbers

Who we are Looking for:

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Degree or relevant experience in a comparable role
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple duties/tasks at any given time
  • An enthusiastic, upbeat attitude
  • Experience of a sales role, which involved working to targets
  • Prior experience of dealing with business customers
  • An ability to form effective working relationships at all levels and is totally customer focused
  • Strong numeracy and analytical capabilities plus good general IT skills and awareness.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Experience in fund raising is preferred with a track record of supporting and delivering successful events
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative as well as individually

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 Successful rugby clubs are more than just victorious teams on the pitch, players and head coaches are vitally important but so are the many dedicated volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to help the club operate. We are currently looking for volunteers to get involved, and depending on your skills / experience and time available, we’ll probably have a volunteering opportunity which is right for you.

Do you have rugby ambitions? We are actively looking for players who are keen to take their game to the next level. Heriot’s Rugby Club offers a unique and exciting opportunity to play rugby in a friendly, focused and enjoyable environment that caters for all levels. Our aim is to combine high quality rugby with a strong social base, an approach that has seen many of our players launch pad into professional rugby. The Club currently boasts three senior teams coached by dynamic, dedicated and experienced coaches who make player welfare their number one priority.

We welcome players of all experience.
