PLAYER INTERVIEW

Know Your Nails: Heriot’s Super6 flanker Jack McClean

How did you come to play rugby at Heriot’s?
‘‘I was moving up to Scotland for university and my school coach introduced me to Iain ‘The Bear’ Milne and he invited down for a training session. That was eight years ago and they haven’t been able to get rid of me since.’’

What do you enjoy about being a Heriot’s player?
‘‘I enjoy the fact that everyone regardless of what team you play for, where you come from or what the result was that day, everyone wants to sit down as a group of mates at Goldie and have a drink together.’’

When did you start playing rugby and why?
‘‘I started playing rugby when I was 4 years old. My Dad took me and my twin brother down to my local club Reeds Weybridge in England.’’

What is your favourite rugby memory?
‘‘My favourite rugby memory is the huge pile up when we scored a try last play of the game to win the Premiership vs Melrose back in 2014.’’
